First of all, I want to apologize for my absence. The past month has been crazy. I was in a best friend's wedding Colorado, started a new job, put babe #2 in daycare and had to (not-so-elegantly) figure out the balance of working full time with two kids. And if that doesn't seem like enough excuse to take a blog-pause, I got sicker than sick. Which led to my next rant.
Daycare germs ARE GROSS. Be prepared. When you have kids and send them to daycare, you will get sicker than you've ever been in your entire life. Fletch has been at daycare for about a month, and I’ve already been sick twice. And I’m not talking sniffle, sniffle, cough, cough sick. This shit is GNARLY. It started with a sore throat and then got better (I thought) before actually turning into the most painful sinus infection I’ve ever dealt with. I literally couldn’t get out of bed, and was begging my mother-in-law to take me to the hospital. She’s came over like an angel in the night (daytime) to help my husband take care of the kiddos. Because she’s a nurse, she knew I’d start feeling better after some antibiotics and rest and talked me out of the ambulance call. But it took weeks for the crippling headaches and neon snot to finally disappear.
My husband got sick too! Seriously though, you can lead a somewhat healthy lifestyle and avoid most sicknesses UNTIL your kids go to daycare. When our 3-year-old started daycare, I got pink eye. TWICE. As an adult. That is not ok. And of course… you’re usually bringing your kids to daycare when? When they’re 3-4 months old and you’re going back to work. So, it’s the PERFECT time to get sick! In case your colleagues didn’t already doubt your ability to come back because you decided to give birth, now I’m the flaky sick girl.
